Vice President Jane Naana Set to Return to Ghana Next Week After Full Recovery.

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is set to return to Ghana next week after a period of medical leave, as announced by President John Dramani Mahama. This development follows her recuperation from a sudden illness that occurred in late March 2025. Initially treated at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, she subsequently sought further medical attention abroad.
President Mahama provided an update on her health during the launch of the Free Sanitary Pad Programme in Accra on April 24, 2025. He conveyed that he had spoken with the Vice President, who was in good spirits and eager to resume her duties.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made history on January 7, 2025, by becoming Ghana’s first female Vice President. Her extensive background in academia and public service has been instrumental in shaping policies aimed at education reform and gender equality.
Her anticipated return is expected to bolster the government’s ongoing initiatives and reinforce its commitment to inclusive governance.
