Thomas Partey court appearance on rape charges adjourned to Sept 15

Ghanaian and Villareal midfielder, Thomas Partey’s appearance in court over rape and sexual assault charges has been adjourned to Monday, 15 September 2025.
Initially, he was scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on September 2; however, it had to be rescheduled for the 15th at Southwark Crown Court.
Thomas Partey is facing five counts of rape against two women and another charge of sexual assault against a third woman.
The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022 when he was with his former team, Arsenal in London.
His charges came just four days after he exited the English club after the expiration of his contract at the end of June.
The adjournment has paved the way for the midfielder to make an appearance in Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers.
According to the Ghana FA, Partey is “in the right frame of mind and in top shape” to play for the country after naming him in the 24-man squad for the upcoming matches against Chad and Mali.
As at Tuesday, the Black Stars including Partey are expected to depart Ghana for N’Djamena.
Ghana faces Chad on Thursday September 4 at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno.
The team sits at the top of Group I after six matches.
