Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, who is widely known as Tems, has become the first Nigerian artist to perform at the halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup final.

She made history on Sunday, July 13, with an exciting performance at the famous MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, during the final match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Tems shared the stage with well-known international musicians, including Colombian star J Balvin and American rapper Doja Cat. Together, they gave fans an energetic and unforgettable show, with Tems proudly representing Afrobeats on a global platform.

The halftime show was produced by Chris Martin, lead singer of the band Coldplay. He created a smooth and organized performance mixed with different styles of music and cultures.

The show was set up on a special platform built above stands to protect the football pitch. This added a touch of uniqueness and innovation to the overall feel of the performance.

The event was graced by some of the world’s most prominent and powerful people. Notable among them include U.S. President Donald Trump, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, top FIFA officials, football stars, celebrities, and many other very influential entertainment figures.

After the performance, social media was full of praise for Tems. Fans across the world celebrated her for making history and for helping Afrobeats gain even more recognition as one of the world’s most powerful music genres.
