State funeral for helicopter crash victims
President John Dramani Mahama has announced that a state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square in Accra to honor the memory of the victims who lost their lives in the recent military helicopter crash.
The president made this known in an address to the nation giving updates on the tragic crash and subsequent preparations for their honor and final rights.
The victims were serving the nation at the time of the tragic incident hence, a full and befitting military honor will be given to them in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
“These fallen heroes gave their lives in service to the nation. We must honor their legacy with the dignity and respect they deserve,” he said.
He also mentioned that the Books of Condolence will be opened and made available at various locations from Sunday, August 10, to Thursday, August 14.
Government officials, military leadership, grieving families, and members of the public who wish to pay their final respects are expected at this solemn ceremony.
