Sammy Gyamfi Meets Chief of Staff Over Viral Cash Video with Nana Agradaa

Honouring a summons from the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has met the Chief of Staff, following a viral video showing Sammy Gyamfi publicly handing Evangelist Nana Agradaa a wad of dollar notes.
This call came after Sammy Gyamfi was captured in a video extending a cash offering of dollar notes to popular Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat.
Sammy Gyamfi quickly rendered an apology to Ghanaians after the video went viral and he was accused of opulently displaying wealth. Following this development, the Chief of Staff called on Sammy Gyamfi to answer questions about the encounter with Evangelist Mama Pat.
Sources have reliably confirmed that Sammy Gyamfi left the Presidency around 11:00 a.m., seeming “pensive and remorseful” after a closed-door meeting regarding the issue.
Netizens and Ghanaians at large have poured in their thoughts about the scandal. While some have called for the appropriate sanctions to be meted out to the politician, others have also pleaded for leniency on his behalf.
One major reason why this viral video has caused such an uproar is the Code of Conduct instituted by President Mahama for public officials. With this code of conduct in place, all public servants are expected to eschew opulence, among other rules. Sammy Gyamfi gifting that sum of money to the evangelist has been interpreted by some observers as a show of opulence and hence called for sanctions against him.
President Mahama’s response to this issue will determine if he will live up to his promises, even when it goes against his party members.
