Sam George responds to rapid MTN, At internet data depletion claims

Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George
The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampam and Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has responded to growing public concerns regarding the rapid depletion of internet bundles, stating that there is no evidence to support those claims.
He further explained that investigations into the matter have led to the conclusion that the problem often stems from user-related factors, rather than issues with the networks themselves, and hence, no misconduct has been uncovered on the part of the telecom providers.
Speaking to reporters before the mid-year budget review, Mr. George referenced a recent incident involving Ghanaian comedian Derick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, who had publicly voiced concerns on social media about speedy data usage. Following an investigation, Mr. George noted that DKB later withdrew his allegations.
Mr. George remarked, “That’s not backed by any evidence. You realize someone like DKB came out the other day complaining. When I instructed an investigation to happen, what happened? He came back to retract.”
He added, “People need to check their settings and be sure about the claims that they are making, but there is no evidence to show right now that those claims are real.”
