Prez. Mahama removes Anne Sansa Daly from NHIA Board

Anne Sansa Daly
In a major political development, President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), after issues concerning her lack of a valid license to practice medicine in Ghana arose.
The Office of the President issued a letter stating that Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke has been nominated to replace Daly immediately. In addition to that, the Presidency has ordered that the relevant authorities facilitate the swearing-in of Prof. Yorke.
While the letter did not specify the reasons for her dismissal, sources have suggested that this decision was taken following public backlash over her representation as a medical doctor despite not being licensed to practice in Ghana.
Questions arose about her qualifications to be a part of a major public health institution.
Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, on the other hand, has been working as the Vice President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA. He is generally recognized and acknowledged. Industry experts opine that he is a credible and fitting replacement.
The National Health Insurance Board (NHIA) plays a major role in the administration and affairs of Ghana’s national health insurance scheme.
