Mahama lauds Buz Stop Boys at re-Launch of National Sanitation Day

President John Dramani Mahama has lauded the Buz Stop Boys for their voluntary efforts in keeping Ghana’s towns and cities clean.
Speaking at the re-launch of the National Sanitation Day in Madina, the President presented the group with items including 200 wheelbarrows, 300 shovels, 300 brooms, 300 gloves, 280 brushes, and 300 buckets to support their work.
Mr. Mahama said he first noticed the group in 2024 through social media, where their appeals for support led him to donate a tricycle. He described them as selfless young people who have used their own energy and resources to improve sanitation.
Founder of the group, Heneba Kwadwo Sarfo, received the items on behalf of the group and thanked the President for the recognition.
The government has also announced that from October 2025, the first Saturday of every month will again be observed as National Sanitation Day, an initiative first introduced in 2014.
