Presidents Mahama pays a visit to Black Stars

President John Dramani Mahama surprisingly visited the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, during their training session ahead of their upcoming game with Chad and Madagascar.
The president’s visit was intended to offer words of encouragement to the players and technical team ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He reassured the team that Ghanaians still believe in them and urged them to reclaim their glory.
Mahama acknowledged the team’s recent struggles, including their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and early exits in previous AFCON editions.
“We didn’t qualify for the AFCON. But even when we qualified for the AFCON, we crashed out very early the last time. And so we haven’t given up on you.”

The president again emphasized that the team’s revival depends on the players, technical team, and management committee.
He reminded the players that their success ultimately depends on their commitment and dedication on the field.
“We still believe that the Black Stars can find its glory again. And it’s dependent on you, the technical team, and the management committee,” he said.
“The goals will come from these feet that are right here. And so it takes sacrifice. It takes strength. We all like to watch you when you play for your teams, and we expect that you bring some of that dedication to the national team.”
The Black Stars will face Chad on March 21 and Madagascar on March 24 in Morocco, aiming to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
