Petrol and LPG prices to go up; Diesel to fall from August 16

The prices of petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are expected to slightly go up from August 16th, 2025. Diesel will however, go down within the same period.
This is according to the outlook report that oversees the pricing of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Ghana.
This is based on the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies’ (COMAC) outlook report that guides the pricing of the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in the country.
The reports projects that price of petrol is likely to increase by 0.39 -2.71% per liter from August 16, 2025.
LPG will also go up by up to 2.34 percent per kilogram.
Diesel on the other hand will decrease by 0.72 percent per litre.
Reasons for the Increase
COMAC explained that the new pricing outlook is largely influenced by a slight depreciation of the Ghana Cedi against the US Dollar.
“The rate shifted from GHC 10.68 to GHC 10.77, reflecting a 0.8% decline.”
This projection at the pump aligns with global trends where there has been a minimal increase for petrol and LPG.
Meanwhile, there has been reports of mixed prices for crude oil on the international market. Diesel sharply fell to 5.22, Petrol and LPG went up marginally by 1.89% and 2.87%.
The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies is however confident that prices will be fairly stable for the next pricing window, starting in September, 2025.
