Dr. Dominic Nitiwul, former Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla has dived into serious health issue which is becoming increasing in male adult.

Recently, during a heated debate in Parliament on the Fisheries and Aquaculture Bill 2025, Dr. Dominic Nitiwul made a striking comment:“If you have a protruding stomach, you’re sick because of the accumulation of fat. And so, you need to look at the food you eat and pay attention to your health.”

This statement quickly caught the attention of both his fellow legislators and the public, with some finding it humorous and others taking it as a serious health warning.

Dr. Nitiwul clarified his statement that he was not saying all fat people are sick. Instead, he stressed on the importance of monitoring what we eat.

His comment even led to a light-hearted moment in Parliament. Bernard Ahiafor, the MP for Akatsi South and First Deputy Speaker, jokingly called it the “Nitiwul theory,” causing laughter on both sides of the House.
