Peller disqualifies over 20 master’s degree holders who wanted to be his cameraman

Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, better known as Peller, a popular Nigerian TikTok star, has been trending after a video of him interviewing dozens of job seekers for a ₦500,000 cameraman position went viral online.
What makes the video more fascinating is that the applicants needed at least a master’s degree to qualify for the role. Over 20 highly educated men and women showed up at Backbox Studio in Lagos, all hoping to land the role.
Footage from the day shows applicants waiting their turn with CVs in hand. Peller, known for his playful style, was seen joking and interacting with the crowd.
Some viewers were amused, calling it “cruise” and praising Peller for offering such a high-paying job. Others were outraged, seeing it as a mockery of education and a sad reflection of Nigeria’s job market.
A Facebook user, Fagbenro SmileLee, commented, “Imagine look at the way he’s talking to them especially the guy that corrected him. He dey use all of them in the video catch cruise and money dey enter for am like that. This life no balance indeed.”
On X, @Irunnia_ wrote, “Omo these are people with degrees in different fields but look at. Take your fight against poverty seriously abeg o.”
Another x user @mo_free_ng said: “Don’t let clowns like this demotivate you with stunts like this trying to prove that school na scam. In the real world, people use education as a launchpad.”
After the backlash, Peller claimed he did select two candidates and would pay them the promised salary, but many applicants felt used for content rather than given a fair shot at employment.
