NIA begins free issuance of Ghana card at all district offices Nationwide

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has published a note as a reminder to Ghanaians, for Ghana card registration to first timers at it 276 district offices in the country at no fee.

As recognized by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana in 2023 in regards to the approved fee structure, the Authority in addition has introduced first-time card issuance fees at its Premium Centres.

This act aims to streamline the process of obtaining the Ghana Card and ensuring transparency in the fees charged for various services by the Authority.

According to the NIA the Ghana Card, serves as a crucial identification document for citizens, alleviating access to government services and other important activities.

According to the note, the authorized fees for various services at Premium Centres include GH₵310.00 for first issuance, GH₵125.00 for card replacement, and GH₵420.00 for record updates which demand a new card replacement.

The Authority also outlined charges for other services such as nationality updates which cost GH₵70.00 while record updates which do not require card replacement will be free at all district offices but cost GH₵310.00 at Premium Centres.
