Netizens React to Very Dark Man Getting Arrested

Prominent Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man, was taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on May 2, 2025, yet no word about his arrest has been released to the public.

The young man was allegedly picked up by unidentified men at GT Bank in Abuja, where he went to lodge a complaint about funds being deducted from his mother’s account – funds that were meant to repay a loan she reportedly never took.

Social media has been erratic since Very Dark Man’s arrest. Prominent personalities like Davido have joined the call for his release.

Very Dark Man has been a very vocal and loud citizen who tackled national issues with vigour, not caring to accord respect to those in power.

Netizens have been quick to call his arrest a power trip intended to silence him and punish him for some of the powerful men whose toes he had stepped on in the past.
