My govt has no animosity towards judiciary – Mahama

The President of the republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has disregarded allegations of aggression between his administration and the judiciary, reaffirming his government’s receptiveness and commitment to working with the legal fraternity.
He stressed that his leadership values robust relations with the judicature to heighten governing and maintain rule of law in the country.
Addressing members of the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, President Mahama recognized concerns over perceived tensions in the legal fraternity in regards to the incumbent administration.

However, the President assured that his administration values collaboration with the judiciary to strengthen governance, and the importance of ensuring an independent judiciary.
In a statement He said that, “The government is open to working with the legal fraternity, particularly on his side of political divide. Adding that there are perceptions arguing they have a problem with the legal fraternity and things like that, which are untrue”.
The President further pointed to key figures in his administration, including former Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, as evidence of the government’s respect for the judiciary.
Mahama restated that his administration harbours no hostility toward the judiciary or the legal profession, adding “They are not people who have any such animosity towards the judiciary and the legal fraternity.
Meanwhile, his doors are open to members of the Ghana Bar Association in helping build a better country.”
