Minority rejects Pres. Mahama’s decision to take no further action against Sammy Gyamfi over dollar gift

The Minority in Parliament has rejected President John Mahama’s decision not to pursue further action against Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, following a viral video showing him presenting a dollar gift to Agradaa.
In response, the Minority has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), urging comprehensive investigations into the incident.
This development adds to the ongoing debate over the government’s handling of high-profile cases. Previously, the Mahama administration faced criticism for discontinuing several politically sensitive court cases, which some viewed as undermining the fight against corruption. The government defended these decisions, asserting that the cases were politically motivated and lacked substantial evidence.
