M23 Rebels, Congo To Work Towards Restoring Peace

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the alleged Rwanda backed M23 rebels have come to an agreement to work towards restoring peace in the region. This agreement was announced through pledged statements released on late Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025.

This announcement offers Congolese citizens some much needed relief because the country had been plagued with chaos and anguish ever since violence flared in January 2025.

Each party released a statement after having peace talks, which lasted for weeks.

M23 rebels staged an unforeseen advance since January, taking control of major cities in Eastern Congo. This led to the death of thousands and the displacement of millions.

With this current peace agreement, the Congolese people can experience some much-needed peace as the government and the M23 have decided to halt violent attacks in the country.
