Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has shared his thoughts on the recent incident in London, where King Paluta was captured in a viral video using unprintable language towards a fan who was displeased with his performance. Kwabena Kwabena described his actions as inappropriate and did not speak well of his character as an artist.
The incident, which was widely circulated on social media showed King Paluta visibly angry hurling insults at the audience member. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a comment made by the fan, who did not seem pleased with King Paluta’s performance.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, July 5, Kwabena Kwabena addressed the matter, offering both criticism and advice. He urged King Paluta to remain focused on his craft and maintain professionalism while on stage.
“You need to look at the craft very well and understand the stage. It doesn’t matter who likes you or not at the end of the day, it’s a job. People bought tickets to come see you and your duty is to entertain them,” he advised.
He went on to express his disappointment with King Paluta’s language, stressing that it was unbecoming of an artist building a strong reputation.
“I believe he concentrated on the environment; it can happen to anyone but I am not excited about the words he used, let’s be truthful. The words were not words that should come out from the mouth of an artiste of his stature,” he said.
He further suggested that Paluta and his team should issue a public apology for the incident.
“I believe that by now, he himself and his management should put out a statement to apologize for those words. Let’s call a spade, a spade and be blunt,” he added.
Kwabena Kwabena also reminded King Paluta of the responsibility that comes with fame, advising him to be mindful of public scrutiny and to develop the maturity to handle criticism gracefully.
