Thomas Adjei Wireko, popularly known as King Paluta has petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) asking for an explanation as to why his song, “Mahoma” had not been enlisted in any of the nominations he filed for.
King Paluta stated in the said letter issued on March 18 that “Makoma” was submitted for various categories: Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
“Makoma” was absent following the announcement of the nominee list for this year’s edition of TGMA.
The singer/songwriter expressed his disappointment stating his confidence that his song breached no moral or ethical standards and deserved recognition in any of the categories.
“We humbly write to your honorable board to demand some explanations in connection with the snub of “MAKOMA” by King PALUTA, a song we duly submitted for consideration which we believe remains Ghana’s most popular song released the year under review, generating the most excitement amongst music lovers till date,” the letter said.
Fans have poured in on social media with some agreeing that “Makoma” was one of the biggest songs released during the year under review and therefore deserved to be nominated in at least a few categories.
The TGMA board is yet to issue a response to King Paluta’s demands.
