Kendrick Lamar has dazzled fans with his electrifying performance at the Superbowl, blending his sharp-edged lyricism, striking visuals, and an exhilarating setlist. Kendrick Lamar may have just solidified his position as one of the greatest showmen in hip-hop.
Adding a bit of humour to the performance, Kendrick Lamar made a statement that has gotten fans giggling because we can all detect the sarcasm. A few minutes into the performance, Lamar remarked, “I want to play their favourite song… but you know they love to sue,” seemingly taking a dig at Drake for his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group for promoting Not Like Us, a song which allegedly enforces pedophile allegations against Drake.
Not Like Us, Lamar’s savage takedown of rap rival Drake was a major 2024 hit that garnered over a billion streams on Spotify and earned him five Grammy awards, including Record of the Year. Before the Superbowl, there were speculations and curiosity about whether or not Lamar would or could perform the hit song, considering the origins and message of the song.
Lamar fueled this dilemma, raising fans’ curiosity as he repeatedly teased the song during his set. When the song finally played, fans could not help but jubilate and sing along as loud as they could, signaling what a huge success the song was for Kendrick Lamar.
In addition to all that excitement, tennis superstar Serena Williams, in a surprise appearance, joined Lamar on stage dancing to “Luther” and “All the Stars.” Social media is abuzz about Serena’s crip walk, with some suggesting that Serena considers doing more public appearances like this one.
SZA also joined Kendrick on stage, performing “Luther” and “All the Stars.” Despite some fans accusing her of lip-syncing, SZA’s presence added to the star-studded lineup and showcased her vocal talent alongside Kendrick’s powerful performance.

The performance also featured DJ Mustard, who joined Kendrick for the song “TV Off,” and Samuel L. Jackson, who narrated the show. Kendrick Lamar’s Superbowl performance is one for the books and will surely go a long way to set a precedent, especially among hip-pop artists.
