GUTA Urges Traders to Adjust Prices as Cedi Gains Strength

The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) has made an urgent call to traders across the country to adjust their prices immediately in response to the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi against major trading currencies. This is to provide immediate relief to consumers and promoting fairness in the marketplace.
In recent weeks, the Ghana cedi has gained momentum against currencies such as the US dollar and the Euro. This appreciation is being hailed in the country as it reduces the cost of imported goods and services, which can lead to lower prices for consumers.
GUTA has taken this opportunity to urge its members to reflect the currency gains in their pricing.
In a statement released today, the union emphasized that the adjustment is not only an economic imperative but also a moral one.
“We wish to appeal to the trading community to adjust prices of goods and services,” said the statement signed by GUTA President, Dr. Joseph Obeng.
The union’s appeal is rooted in both economic and moral considerations.
GUTA is calling for immediate action from traders to ensure that the benefits of the cedi’s appreciation are passed on to consumers as quickly as possible.
