Govt pursuing solutions to natural resource management, youth unemployment – Omane Boamah

The government through the Ministry of Defence, has announced the government is exploring innovative approaches to tackling issues relating to the extraction of natural resources and youth unemployment.
This comes amid heightened concerns about the menace of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, on the environment and the threats of youth unemployment to Ghana’s socioeconomic advancement.
Addressing a gathering on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the opening ceremony of the 2025 African Land Forces Summit in Accra, the Defence minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah emphasised the need to enhance security in Africa through strategic policies and frameworks.

In a statement the minister said, “the attention you seek to dedicate to the related areas in this summit was therefore commendable. Meanwhile, innovative solutions will be devised at the end of the day. In Ghana, issues surrounding the extraction of natural resources and youth unemployment continue to pose a real threat to our national security. And they are injecting innovative approaches to dealing with these threats.
Omane Boamah further argued that, opportunities such as the Africa Land Forces Summit 2025 offer a unique entry point and platform to source solutions from some of the best brains in the defence and security sector globally.

He again said, he is confident that their discussions on the chosen topics will generate innovative and groundbreaking ideas that will contribute to long-term solutions for our shared challenges in the defense and security sector worldwide.
