Gov’t allocate funds to GOLDBOD, Akosombo and tidal wave victims – Ato Forson

In regards to the 2025 Budget presentation, and in a bid to ensure economic growth, the government of the republic of Ghana through the finance minister has announced substantial allocation of funds.
The minister for Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson schemed in details throughout his budget presentation in parliament underscoring the divers’ fields which will benefit from these allocations.
In a statement, Ato Forson pronounced that the government will be offering a Cedi equivalent to US$279 million as an orbiting fund for the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) to be used for exporting and leveraging at most 3 tons of Gold per week from small scale miners. This act is anticipated to support the small-scale mining sector and boost the country’s gold exports.

In addition, the finance minister disclosed that, GH¢13.85 billion has been allocated for the Big Push programme which is a major infrastructure initiative targeted at driving economic growth and development across the country.
The minister further emphasized that the government in support of education has allocated a sum of GH¢499.8 million for the No-Academic-Fee policy for first year public tertiary institutions students under the ‘No-Fees-Stress’ initiative.
In conclusion Ato forson stated that the government has allocated GH¢242.5 million to support victims of the Akosombo dam spillage and GH¢200 million to assist victims of the tidal waves in the Ketu South constituency. Lastly the government has allocated GH¢292.4 million to start the distribution of free sanitary pad in support of girl child education.
These allocations will elevate transportation, energy, and social infrastructure, increase access to higher education by reducing financial burdens on students and families and promote menstrual hygiene, enabling female students to attend school without interruptions.
