Government increases base pay by 10%

The government of Ghana and organized labour have signed an agreement to increase the base pay for public sector workers by 10% on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The increment will be implemented from January to December 2025.
This recent increment follows the 23% salary adjustment that was made in 2024 aimed at cushioning workers against the rising cost of living. The Labour Minister, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, announced that the daily minimum wage has now risen to GH¢19.97.
The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and President John Dramani Mahama were present at the meeting where the agreement was signed.
The agreement was appended with the signatures of the chief executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, General Secretary of TUC, Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, the Chairman of FORUM, and the finance minister.
