Government Announces 68th Independence Activities

The Government of Ghana through the National Celebrations Planning Committee (NCPC) has announced a series of activities to commemorate the 68th Independence of the country on March 6, 2025. This year’s celebration is under the theme, “Reflect, Review, Reset” to honor the country’s rich history and foster national unity.
First of the events is a commemoration of the 28th February Crossroad Shooting Incident. A wreath-laying ceremony will be observed at the Nationalism Park in Accra on February 28, at 8am. The event will be broadcasted across all platforms.

Following is Nationwide School Quiz Competition Finals that will be held on March 2, 2025 and also a nationwide Debate Competition Finals which will take place on March 4, 2025.
The President will then host the annual award ceremony for School Children on March 5 gearing up for the grand independence celebration the following day, March 6, 2025.

The grand ceremonial parade will be held at the forecourt of the Presidency.
The Communications Subcommittee of the NCPC will roll out educational content on television, radio, and social media to highlight the significance of the 28th February Crossroad Shooting Incident and its role in Ghana’s independence movement.
Also, a conversation titled “The Changing Face of Civil Protests in Ghana: Lessons from the Past and Present” will be hosted on X-space to engage citizens in civil activism discussions.
Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has called on stakeholders to support the anniversary celebrations, saying, “We encourage the media, bloggers, and the public to actively participate by sharing information with your viewers, listeners, and readers.”
