GoldBod and National Security apprehend foreigners in attempt to smuggle Gold

The Ghana Gold Board together with the National Security have arrested some three Indian nationals who were attempting to smuggle gold outside the country and illegally trade in gold.
Police reported that the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday afternoon in Anyinam, the Eastern Region.
This brings the total number of foreigners arrested for illegal smuggling of gold to six. Three Indians were earlier arrested on April 29, 2025.
The suspects were found with gold bars, stacks of cash, and money-counting machines.
The attempt to smuggle gold out of the country is contrary to the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), that explicitly prohibits unauthorized exports of gold.
Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Gold Board, Prince Minkah has said the suspected foreigners will be made to face the law.
