Ghana’s Black Stars Move Up in FIFA Rankings

Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars has climbed one place to 76th in the latest FIFA rankings. This is a reflection of their strong start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
This upward movement marks their first improvement since July 2024, when they moved from 64th to 60th. The Black Stars’ recent success includes victories over Chad and Madagascar that influence their position in the global rankings.
Ghana however remains unchanged in the continental standings; currently holding the 12th position in Africa. The team’s rise has seen them overtake Israel, which dropped two places.
Ghana has suffered a lot of fluctuations in their rankings. In October 2022, they rose three places to 58th after a strong performance in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. But due to poor results, they dropped again to 61st in February 2022 and 70th in September 2023
The Black Stars’ current position is a testament to their recent form and the team’s potential. Continued success in upcoming matches could propell the team’s ranking globally and continentally.
With top African teams like Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Ivory Coast leading the pack, Ghana’s upward trajectory is a positive sign for their football future.
