Ghanaian striker Felix Afena-Gyan joins Turkish club Amedspor on loan

Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan has completed a move to Turkish TFF First League side Amedspor as he signed on a season-long loan from Italian club US Cremonese. The transfer news was confirmed on Wednesday, August 20, and includes an option for Amedspor to make the deal permanent ahead of the 2025–2026 campaign.
The 22-year-old attacker began his European career at AS Roma and later played for Juventus Next Gen. He is expected to add firepower to Amedspor’s frontline as the Diyarbakır-based club pushes for promotion to the Süper Lig.
Afena-Gyan who was born in Sunyani, burst onto the scene with a memorable brace for Roma against Genoa in 2021. However, his progress stalled after joining Cremonese in 2022, by limited opportunities and injury. A subsequent loan to Juventus’ reserve team, Juventus Next Gen, in Serie C revitalized his career, he scored 10 goals in 30 appearances during the 2023\2024 season.
Amedspor officially welcomed the striker in a statement released Wednesday, expressing optimism about his potential impact. “We believe that Felix Ohene Afena Gyan will make significant contributions under our green-and-red jersey, and we wish him success in his Amedspor career while hoping this transfer brings good fortune to our club,” the club said.
Afena-Gyan is set to join his new teammates in training this week as Amedspor prepares for the upcoming fixtures in the TFF First League.
