Ghana Approves Visa Waiver Agreements with Four Nations

Foreign Affairs Minister, Okudzeto Ablakwa
Ghana has signed visa waiver agreements with four new countries to enhance international partnerships and make travel easier for citizens. These four countries are Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Colombia, and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The agreements apply to diplomatic, service, and regular passport holders and expected to open the door to deeper cooperation in areas like trade, education, energy, agriculture, and tourism.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa shared the news during a recent session in Parliament. He said the initiative is meant to encourage greater exchange between citizens, boost business and investment opportunities and drive growth in sectors.
According to the minister, the removal of the visa requirements will create more room for students, entrepreneurs, and tourists to connect and collaborate. This will also build stronger ties with other countries beyond its traditional allies.
Observers see the deal as a smart move to deepen Ghana’s relationships in Latin America, the Caribbean, and across the African continent. While the agreements still need to go through a few final steps before they take effect, officials say implementation is just around the corner.
The visa waivers are the latest sign of Ghana’s effort to strengthen global partnerships and play a more active role in shaping international cooperation and development.
