E/R: Residents urge refurbishing of Nsuapemso agenda 111 Hospital project
The people of Osino, Nsuapemso, Nsuta, and Bunso in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region has called on the government to refurbish and complete the stalled Agenda 111 healthcare facility at Nsuapemso Junction, highlighting its importance in emergency healthcare, specifically for trauma and accident victims along the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The project, which began in January 2024 and was assigned to three construction firms, has since stalled, leaving residents frustrated. They remain hopeful that President John Dramani Mahama will prioritize its completion.

A resident, Lydia Owusuwaa said, “they have to journey long distance to get access to healthcare and at night, it is harder to find a cab for conveyance. They plead with the government to bring the contractors back to complete the hospital”.
Another resident, Agnes Fosua, added saying, “If this hospital is completed, all neighboring communities will benefit. They believe President Mahama will ensure its completion.”
Doris Addo lamented that, she lost her aunt due to delayed medical care, but she strongly believed the hospital could have saved her life if it had been operational.
Given its location on one of the most accident-prone highways, residents stress that the hospital’s completion is critical for saving lives.
The Eastern Regional Hospital, which is the main referral centre, noted that early access to medical care significantly increases survival rates.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Anim Boamah urges the government to complete the new regional hospital at Akwadum to ease congestion at the current facility, which operates at 94% capacity daily.
The sooner accident victims receive medical care, the better their chances of survival. Having hospitals along the highway is very crucial and completing the new regional hospital will help provide additional beds for the people of Koforidua and the Eastern region in general.
