Creative Arts Agency to hold a candlelight vigil for ‘late’ Daddy Lumba

A candlelight vigil will be held this Saturday, August 2, at Accra’s Independence Square to honour the life and legacy of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba.
The solemn gathering, which is set to commence at 6:00 p.m., forms part of a series of remembrance activities organised in memory of the late singer, whose real name was Charles Kwadwo Fosu.
The announcement of the vigil was made public through an official statement issued by the Fosu family on July 27, 2025. In the same vein, the family has disclosed plans to open a book of condolence at his private residence, located at Kinshasha Crescent, House Number 12, digital address GA-332-9264. Members of the public will be allowed to sign the book beginning Tuesday, July 29, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., daily.
Daddy Lumba was a beloved artist recognized and appreciated as one of the most prominent and influential figures in Ghanaian music. He is particularly referenced as a heavy influence within the highlife fraternity, with more than 30 years in the music industry. During these years, he released 33 studio albums with hits like Aben Wo Ha, Theresa, Yentie Obiaa, and Sika Asem.
His unique sound, deeply expressive lyrics, and daring artistry reshaped the highlife landscape, earning him both national acclaim and a legacy that will endure for decades to come.
