Bimbo Ademoye Issues Stern Warning to Ghanaian TV Stations

Bimbo Ademoye
Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Bimbo Ademoye, has issued a sound warning to Ghanaian television stations that are fond of broadcasting her movies without seeking the appropriate licensing authority.
This warning adds to the list of Nigerian filmmakers who have called out Ghanaian media outlets on the same issue. Actresses Ruth Kadiri and Omoni Oboli have also expressed such frustrations in the past.

Bimpo Ademoye shared the video on her Instagram with the caption “…It is very unfair, that we’d work day and night and one evil demon would come and reap where they didn’t sow. This time I will not take it…”
According to the actress, she was initially open to dialogue and a rational approach for her and Ghanaian media outlets to decide an arrangement that would be beneficial to all parties, but decided against it almost immediately.
Following this development, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku, have responded to Bimpo Ademeyo, promising swift action in the coming weeks to ensure that her intellectual property rights were respected in Ghana.
Hon. Sam George replied to the said Instagram post, stating that the matter had been noticed and the authorities in charge of such issues would take it up and settle it rightfully.
Kafui Danku also commented on the post, saying, “Hi ma’am, my management and I are working on putting a stop to this. You should see definite actions in a couple of weeks.
Copyright laws have existed in Ghana, yet the enforcement of these laws has not necessarily been as stringent as it should be. Hence why copyright infringement issues keep persisting.
Hon. Sam George’s involvement in the matter seems very promising that finally, these creatives are accordance the needed respect and credit for the toil they pour into their works.
