Ayra Starr Wins Best International Act at BET Awards 2025

Nigerian superstar Ayra Starr has just hit another groundbreaking moment in her career by winning the Best International Act at this year’s BET awards.

Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, known widely as Ayra Starr was nominated alongside international superstars like Rema, Tyla, Bashy, SDM, Uncle Waffles, Black Sherif, among others.

This makes Ayra Starr the first Nigerian female artist to win this award. Ayra Starr continues to shine bright on the global scene clinching awards, going on tours, collaborating with top music superstars across the globe, and representing the African continent in the most gracious ways.

This year’s BET Awards held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles celebrated and honoured Black excellence in film, sports, music, and culture.

Ayra Starr has received nominations from the awards scheme since 2022, nominated in categories such as Best New International Act (2002) and Best International Act (2023). BET Her Award (2024 for Commas).

In 2025, she was nominated in three categories: Best New Artist, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. and Best International Act.

Ayra Starr’s win further cements her position as one of the most budding new artists of our generation.
