Accra High Court Dismisses Case Against Kwesi Nyantakyi

The Accra High Court has discharged all cases against former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi and his co-accused after a five-year legal battle.
The court presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Marie-Louise Simmonds, delivered the ruling after the prosecution failed to present any witnesses
The Republic, despite presenting five potential witnesses, was unable to secure testimony with the final witness refusing to testify unless allowed to wear a mask.
The court therefore found no need to continue the case since no evidence was presented.
A major influence in the court’s decision was the Court of Appeal’s ruling which fortified the principle that a fair trial must be conducted within a reasonable time frame on January 30, 2025.
The case was initiated by an investigative exposé by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which revealed the then GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi as a corrupt official, shaking the Ghana football community and subsequently leading to Nyantakyi’s resignation in 2018.
