Absa Black Star Marathon slated for July 26 at Independence Square

The Absa Black Star Marathon is getting ready for its 2025 event, which is set to take place on Saturday, July 26, at Accra’s Independence Square, kicking off at 6:00 am.

During an interview, a member from Absa Bank’s Communications and Sponsorship team, Cyril Nai, spoke on how the marathon brings people together through sports while highlighting serious health issues like kidney disease.

Cyral Nai also noted that a wheelchair race will be part of the event as an effort to ensure inclusivity and diversion. “Inclusion is part of our values. We view diversity as a strength, bringing different people from all walks of life in championing a course is very important. For us, inclusion of the wheelchair race is one direction towards living the talk of our values of inclusion,” Mr. Nai said.

More than just a focus on physical health, the marathon aims to put Ghana on the map as a top destination for elite road races and to nurture homegrown talent for global competitions.
