A goverment official who ate with Satan says Christians take Jesus for granted

Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, dropped jaws and sparked a theological firestorm when he casually claimed on live TV that he once had a relationship with the devil.
In an interview with Joy Prime on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the outspoken politician distinguished between what he described as “Sunday school Christians” and believers who have endured real-life spiritual battles.
He said, “Much as I am a good Christian, I am not a Sunday school Christian. There is a difference. You may be a Sunday school Christian because you have never encountered the devil. I have seen and dined with the devil before. Of course, I have done things in my life.”
Gbande explained that saying he “dined with the devil” was more symbolic—he’s been through dark and difficult times and believes people who haven’t often take faith and salvation for granted.
The line between political theater and spiritual commentary is blurred—often deliberately.
Critics say if Christians are taking Jesus for granted, maybe politicians should stop using Him and His adversary as talking points.
