Dancehall star Shatta Wale has been released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after spending less than 24 hours in detention.
The dancehall heavyweight was granted bail of GH¢10 million with two sureties after being arrested on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, over investigations into the acquisition of his Lamborghini. EOCO later reviewed the bail conditions to GH¢5 million with two sureties, enabling his release on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Shortly after returning home, the “Killa Ji Mi” hitmaker went live on TikTok to express his gratitude to fans and EOCO officials. He assured his supporters that he was safe and at home, and acknowledged the support he received during his detention.
“As I said, One Don is safe and I’m home now. I just want to say a big thank you for supporting me, for being around me in times like this because I needed you guys,” Wale said. He also commended EOCO staff and its boss, Raymond Archer, for what he described as professionalism during the arrest and investigation process.
Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, confirmed the bail variation to the media, describing it as “good news” for the team and fans.
Meanwhile, a number of supporters massed up at EOCO’s headquarters in Accra on Thursday, demanding his release. Music executive and manager Ricky Nana Agyemang, popularly known as Bullet, also visited the artiste and criticized the arrest.
Speaking in an interview, Bullet alleged that Shatta Wale was being targeted, describing the development as a “witch-hunt” against the musician. He argued that authorities were unwilling to accept that a Ghanaian musician could legitimately earn enough to afford luxury assets, pointing to Shatta Wale’s businesses and properties as proof of his success.
“The system wants to tell us that you can never make it. Nobody should be happy that Shatta Wale has been arrested,” Bullet stated.
Shatta Wale remains under investigation as EOCO continues its probe into the matter.
