Ghana Health Service confirms 18 new Mpox cases, total now over 300

In a rather unfortunate development, 18 new cases of Mpox have been recorded by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 346.
The death toll currently still stands at one, and no other fatalities have been recorded.
In its previous update on August 7, 2025, the GHS urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms, and promptly report suspected cases to the nearest health facility.

Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, is a viral disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans and also from person to person through close contact. Symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic rash that develops into blisters and then crusts over.
