Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), and nine other individuals are scheduled to respond to charges of corruption in court on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

The OSP has accused Dr. Abdul-Hamid of masterminding an extortion and money laundering scheme that generated a total of GHS280,516,127.19 between 2022 and December 2024. Out of this amount, a sum of GH¢24 million was reportedly paid to Dr Abdul-Hamidhim in cash, with the remaining funds allegedly channelled through intermediaries and three corporate entities.

The OSP confirmed the set date for the upcoming court appearance in an official Facebook post on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Among the other individuals charged are Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bernako-Mensah, and Kwaku Aboagye Acquah. All accused persons are currently on inquiry bail as the case prepares to move to trial.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid’s legal team has responded to the allegations, describing the claims as unsubstantiated. Hay & Partners, the legal representatives of Dr. Abdul-Hamid, issued a statement on the same day stating that their client had not been officially served any court documents.

Additionally, they have stated that Dr. Abdul-Hamid is prepared to contest the charges in court.
