Actor Lil Win reveals how much he spent on his Ibrahim Traoré movie

Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, is no stranger to ambitious projects. But his latest film, based on the life of Burkina Faso’s leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has set a new record for the actor.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz on Saturday, Lil Win disclosed that he invested a staggering $500,000 into the making of this movie.
Lil Win said, “Captain Ibrahim Traoré took every ounce of effort, money, and support I could gather. It has been very financially demanding. I had to take out a loan of about $400,000 in addition to my own money as well as help from others, bringing the total to around $500,000.”

But why invest so much? Lil Win says it is about more than just entertainment. He wants to put Ghana and Africa on the global map by telling authentic stories rooted in African culture and history.

He believes that to compete internationally, you need to invest big, just like filmmakers in Nigeria and the West do. “When it comes to film-making in Africa, especially in Ghana, we work with specific budgets.

Unfortunately, many people do not believe us when we mention how much our movies cost, but it is the truth. Just as in Nigeria, where some films cost about $1 million to produce, or in the West, where a single movie can cost as much as $30 million or more, we also invest heavily here,” he said.

Lil Win even claims someone tried to bribe him with $20,000 to stop making the film! But he refused, saying he is committed to telling Africa’s stories no matter the obstacles.
