MoE redesigns BECE 2025 CSSPS SHS/SHTS/TVET placement portal

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has rolled out a major redesign of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) used by students to check their second-cycle school (SHS/SHTS/TVET) placement after writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The BECE Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), which once had a simple interface, has now been completely redesigned with cluttered features.

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is a computerized platform designed to match graduating Junior High School (JHS) students with Senior High Schools based on their academic performance, program preferences, and available vacancies.
In addition to the main CSSPS site (cssps.gov.gh), MoE has reintroduced an auxiliary portal at cssps.org for students to check their placements.
With the new interface, students would be required to enter their BECE index number, followed by the last 2 digits of the year of examination, and a free access code they will receive via SMS on the phone number used during registration, unlike the old interface, which requires a voucher code to check their school placement.

For the first time, selected private schools will be part of the Free SHS program, a move aimed to ease congestion in oversubscribed public schools. Also, for students who are not automatically placed, a self-placement module is available. Students can choose from remaining SHS/SHTS or TVET slots.
The redesign also features a reduced number of school choices—fewer schools than the previous 11—streamlining the process and (hopefully) reducing placement mismatches.

Technical and vocational institutions are now more seamlessly integrated into the selection process.
According to the Ministry of Education, this academic year’s Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) will follow clear criteria to ensure fairness to all students who sat for the national examination.
The MoE’s redesign for the BECE 2025 placement process is a solid step forward—eliminating costs, improving uptime, and giving students more control.
