Female Suicide Bomber kills 12 and Injures Dozen in Nigeria’s Borno State

A suspected suicide bomber killed at least 12 people and wounded several dozen others at a fish market on Friday night in Nigeria‘s northeastern Borno state, police said on Saturday.
According to Borno state police spokesperson Nahum Kenneth Daso in a statement, a woman with an improvised explosive device strapped to her body infiltrated a crowd at the fish market before detonating it among civilians.
She added that those injured were transported to hospital.

However, residents said that more than 30 people were injured.
Borno state is the epicenter of an insurgency fuelled mostly by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram that has killed thousands and displaced at least 2 million people over the last 16 years, according to relief groups.
