Ghana’s Black Damsels win African Schools Football Champions with 2-0 win over Uganda

Ghana’s Under-15 girls’ teams also known as the Black Damsels have achieved a significant milestone in the just ended CAF African Schools Football Championship by winning at their first attempt.
The girls won over their Ugandan counterparts with a 2-0 victory on Saturday April 26, 2025 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The team gets the $300,000 in prize money for their win to support the development of football in school.
The Black Damsels made their first appearance in the CAF African Schools Football Championship after two unsuccessful attempts in the past two years to clinch this victory.
After a fierce first half that yielded no goals, midfielder Belinda Kpentey broke the virginity of the game with an early strike in the second half to give the Ghanaian side a lead. Striker Daniella Abass sealed the victory by doubling the advantage for the debutants.

The final game was witnessed by various dignitaries including President John Dramani Mahama, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, GFA President Kurt Okraku, and Black Stars legends Asamoah Gyan, Fatau Dauda, and John Paintsil.
The Ghana boys’ U-15 side settled for a bronze earlier that Saturday winning them $150,000 in prize money.
