Kobby Kyei Unveils The #BoysLivesMatterToo Initiative

Ghanaian blogger and social media influencer Kobby Kyei has unveiled a monumental initiative called #BoysLivesMatterToo.

It is no secret that most boys have been socially conditioned to suppress emotions and “man up” even during the most unbearable of situations. This social conditioning has caused a norm among boys and men where vulnerability cannot be expressed.

This has led to the silent decline in the mental health of most boys in society. According to a 2019 World Health Organization (WHO) study, the global age-standardized suicide rate was higher in males (12.6 per 100,000) than in females (5.4 per 100,000).

This statistic highlights the growing decline in the mental stability of men across the world.

Kobby Kyei is providing a safe space for young men to discuss issues that bother them and find possible solutions. The #BoysLivesMatterToo initiative aims to amplify the voices of young men who, for a long time, have been ignored because of social conditioning.

The campaign is still ongoing on X. Individuals can support this initiative by spreading the word, engaging with the campaign online, and allowing a safe space for young boys to feel and express.

This is not in any way to soften young males or take away their “essence,” but start a conversation that encourages men to voice out their cry and seek help.
