VRA reassures Ghanaians of sustainable power generation

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has assured Ghanaians of its commitment to sustainable electricity production.
The new Chief Executive Officer of VRA, Edward Obeng Kenzo guaranteed that his team is doing everything possible to meet supply needs of consumers.
He mentioned that the staff at VRA have been excellently motivated to make sure they deliver their utmost operational efficiencies for adequate power supply.
In recent weeks, VRA has been working closely with stakeholders to harness enough resources to boost power production.
The CEO further elaborated that his mission is to recover all debts owed by customers, a move that has been lauded by industry experts and financial analysts as efficient.
He said, “VRA is sincerely on a mission for growth with a good record of operational growth and profit earning”.
Based on the 2022 Auditor General’s Report, VRA recorded a profit of GH¢110.893. The Authority also recorded GH¢112.758 million as profit in 2021.
Its total income in 2022 was GH¢5.628 billion, a 34% increase from the GH¢4.199 million in 2021. The increase in total income was due to a 38.7% increase in revenue from power sales.
The Authority’s current assets also increased by 36.1% from GH¢8.631 billion in 2021 to GH¢11.751 billion in 2022. This increase was attributed to an increase in trade and other receivables.
Analysts believe that VRA is well-positioned to generate strong income, reflecting the organization’s strategic direction and high-quality leadership.
The VRA was established on April 26, 1961, as a state-owned entity responsible for generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity in Ghana.
