Nigerian musician Peter Okoye, known now as Mr. P of P-Square, has publicly touched on a deeply personal issue. The beloved singer poured his heart out to fans about the betrayal and manipulation he faced working with family for two decades, stating that he now prioritizes his mental health.
He posted the message to his Instagram story on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The post came in the form of advice to his fans. He stated, “Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence. I did – for over 20 years and it almost cost me everything. But now I know better – love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family doesn’t steal from you.”

In addition to this caution, he stated that a family that steals, discriminates, or ignores one’s pain isn’t family.
On the brighter side of this development, he has revealed that he is prioritizing his mental health above all things.
Mr. P’s post follows his testimony against his elder brother, Jude Okoye, before a federal high court in an alleged N1.5bn fraud case.
Jude Okoye pleaded not guilty to the charge of money laundering and alleged diversion of royalties belonging to the music group, P-Square.
