U.S Ambassador to Ghana calls for Continues Dialogue on 10% tariff imposition

The US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer has called for continues dialogue over the 10% tariff imposition with the government of Ghana, following a meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new tariff policy which is expected to take effect this week has raised serious concerns among Ghana’s industry sector. Experts have warned of its potentiality to impact exports and government revenue negatively.
In an interview with the media after meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, April 7th, the ambassador acknowledged the concerns and expressed optimism in the relationship between Ghana and the United States.
She further highlighted the need for continued dialogue to explore ways for mutually beneficial solutions.
Meanwhile, Deputy Trade Minister, Sampson Ahi has revealed a directive from president John Dramani Mahama, charging the ministry to do everything in their power to resolve the 10% tariff imposition. He said that the president considers the matter as that of national interest and ready to give his full backing to any diplomatic action and efforts to reverse the decision the US presidency.
