An eyewitness stated, “I met the boy in the bush with a chain on his leg. I questioned why he had a chain on his leg, and he said his father chained him and left him in the bush to die. I then reported to the Awutu Bereku Police Station. The father was invited by the police and has since been detained pending investigation.”
According to reports, the parents of the boy, Bismark Odoi, 35, and Saviour Arthur, 33, went into hiding following the incident; however, the police arrested them to assist with investigations.
The boy disclosed that he was being punished for arriving late to school.

He recounted that, “I didn’t go to school early, and my father met me and questioned why. I explained it to him, but he insisted on punishing me. So he put a chain on my leg and took me to a bush nearby, leaving me there for two days. I spent two days in the bush chained to a tree.”
The case is currently being investigated by the police.
