GRA to begin process to eliminate E-levy and Betting Tax

The Ghana Revenue Authority has expressed readiness to begin the necessary process to remove the Electronic Transaction Levy and Betting Levy from their tax compliance scheme. This is in accordance to budget statement read by the finance minister to abolish these two taxes, whose bill was subsequently passed in parliament.
The Acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong confirmed this in an interview with Joybusiness.
He said that measures to eliminate the electronic levy and betting tax from the tax compliance scheme will be put in place immediately the President gives the go ahead.
According to the commissioner, the GRA is ready and willing to follow the laws as an implementing agency to remove taxes passed by parliament.
He said, “E-levy has been abolished, betting tax has been abolished and passed together with all other taxes presented by the Minister on behalf of the President in parliament.”
The Acting Commissioner General made this known after introducing the new Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan to officials of the Tema sector Command.
At the welcome ceremony of the new Commissioner of Customs, the Outgoing Commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorongo, encouraged all officials to give their full support to the new commissioner to be able to perform his duties as given by the president.
The New Commissioner, who is in person of Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, promised to continue the good works and policies implemented by the Outgoing Commissioner.
The delegated team also paid a visit to the Tema Oil Refinery Command at the Tema Industrial Area before returning to Accra.
