Prince Harry resigns from African Charity he co-founded

Prince Harry-Sentabale
The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho have announced their resignation as patrons of the African charity they co-founded, Sentebale. The Princes’ decision resign due to a series of internal disputes and a breakdown in the relationship with the charity’s chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka.
In a statement; Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso expressed their resignation “with heavy hearts,” citing the loss of trust and confidence in Dr Chandauka. The trustees of the charity also resigned in protest, highlighting the “untenable situation” caused by the deteriorating relationship with the chair.
Dr Chandauka has sued the charity to prevent her removal from her position. Additionally, she has reported the charity to the UK Charity Commission, which is now assessing the governance concerns.
Sentebale which means “Forget me not” in Sesotho, was established in 2006 to support young people and children in Lesotho and Botswana; especially those affected by HIV and AIDS. Reagardless of the situaation, the charity has stated that it has not officially received the resignations from the royal patrons. It instead confirmed a restructuring of its board to introduce new experts and ensure the continuation of its vital work.
The resignations could be devastating for the charity which has relied on the high-profile support of Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso to raise awareness and funds for its important mission.
